The University of Newcastle Cricket Club (UNCC) has been the heartbeat of cricket in the Hunter Region for over 7 decades. We're a club built on passion, tradition, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Compete in Newcastle's premier cricket competitions. As THE leading regional cricket competition in New South Wales, the Newcastle District Grade Cricket Competition provides a strong, high-quality platform for player development, competitive cricket, and clear pathways for every level of player — from Saturday grades to T20 leagues.

Scholarship Program

The University of Newcastle Cricket Club is proud to offer eligible registered players the opportunity to apply for the Col Whitehead Cricket Scholarship. Valued at $5,000, this unique scholarship supports student-athletes studying at the University of Newcastle while recognising their contribution to the club, both on and off the field. It is a standout opportunity that reflects our strong connection with the University and our commitment to supporting player development, leadership and academic success.

Player Pathway Program

Our Player Pathway Program is built on strong relationships with junior and senior regional clubs, spanning from Maitland to Tamworth and extending to Sydney via a long-standing relationship with UNSW Cricket Club. Through this established network, we provide players with genuine development opportunities and clear progression pathways from regional competitions to Newcastle Premier Grade Cricket and Sydney Premier Grade Cricket.

Quality Facilities

Play on professionally prepared pitches at our home ground (Bernie Curran & Ray Watt Oval) with excellent training facilities, including turf and synthetic nets, and our clubhouse amenities which boasts a bar, TV's and balcony for the ultimate viewing experience.

Third Grade Secures Grand Final win over City to Raise the Trophy

In a nail-biting finish at Bernie Curran Oval, UNCC Third Grade Grand finalists claimed a 16 run victory over Newcastle City. Thomas Gray 38 from 127 balls and Jacob Suttor 36* n.o. carrying the Sea Dragons through to a respectable 7/166 and Captain Evan Graham, Brock Parsons & James Wallace all bagging 3fa's City couldn't fight off our boys who held the trophy long into the night!
